Bad beats are a part of poker. Learning to deal with them can make you a better player. In an article about this, the Poker Bankroll Blog uses Phil and Luciaetta Ivey to illustrate his point.
I remember reading a poker magazine story about Phil Ivey. His wife was just learning to play poker and was doing microstakes online. Phil came home on edge because he had had an unusually deep loss–a few hundred grand, as I recall. His wife was upset at her day, too; she told him that she had lost something like 70 cents, which is a lot when you’re playing $0.01/$0.02 games. Talk about different pain thresholds!
Phil has probably had more bad beats than I could ever imagine, but I imagine it's been worth it for him.

I can’t think of anyone more knowledgable than Phil Ivey when it comes to talking turkey about bigtime losses. That guy loses just about everytime I see him on TV. He’s probably one of those Chris Moneymaker kind of guys that got lucky once and thinks he is this great player.
If you want to learn about winning, I’d suggest writing a post about Phil Helmuth JR.
Yours in Poker,

I simply couldn’t hold this to myself… You are either dumb Brett, or you are Phil Helmuth JR. (Funny thing is it’s almost the same thing…)
