Phil Ivey dominates… charity?

Tiger Woods held his annual charity event "TigerJam" and had quite the turnout with everyone  from P. Diddy and No Doubt to Adrianne Peterson and Dwayne Wade. The charity auction was spirited and who else but Phil Ivey would want to dominate it.

But it was poker pro Phil Ivey who played the winning hand, helping the live and silent auctions go over the $1 million mark with his bids that wound up totaling nearly $200,000! Among Phil’s winning bids, he paid $27,500 to see the NCAA Men’s Final Four in Indianapolis next April and $50,000 for a private lesson with Tiger and the right to play in the Chevron World Challenge PGA Tour in Thousand Oaks, Calif. Incidentally, the president of Chevron threw in a three-year supply of gas for the winning bid! Phil also paid $70,000 for red carpet treatment at the 2010 Grammy Awards in Los Angeles on Jan. 29.

Suddenly betting on Phil Ivey in golf doesn't seem like such a crazy idea.

Phil Ivey: Player of the year

It's that time of year: list and award season. As the end of the year approaches people try to name their best and favorite moments of the year. For us? The best player was probably Phil Ivey. Our favorite player to watch? Phil Ivey. The coolest player? Phil Ivey. It would seem that the site Poker King agrees with us as they have also named Phil Ivey their player of the year.

Player of the Year - Phil Ivey. In our mind, Phil Ivey is undoubtedly the best poker player in the world. He made over $8 million dollars in 2008 on Full Tilt Poker. He didn't just dominate one game - he dominated all of the different games that he played, whether it was Pot Limit Omaha, No Limit Hold'em, HORSE or Omaha Hi/Lo.

I really like this choice, not only because I am a huge Ivey fan, but because it shows just how far online poker has come. Phil Ivey made $8,000,000 on Full Tilt this year, something that would be hard to match on the tournament circuit and gave high stakes online poker more credibility than it previously had.
