Phil Ivey has been quiet but deadly

Not much going on in the Phil Ivey front lately as he has been relatively quiet in the online scene. That doesn't mean that he hasn't been making money, just that he's been quietly doing it.

Relatively absent from the tables this week, Phil Ivey logged fewer than 800 hands over the past seven days but still managed to turn nearly $686,000 in profit. The majority of those earnings came from a heads-up multi-table $500/1,000 HA session against Sami “LarsLuzak” Kelopuro last Saturday night, where Ivey turned a $449,000 profit and took down both of the session’s largest pots, coming in at over $200,000 apiece.

Phil Ivey takes down Ziigmund

Phil Ivey is back playing at Full Tilt Poker and from the looks of things he is back to his old tricks taking down Ziigmund for over a $500k in pots.

With LarsLuzak, Ivey and Ziigmund at the table, action quickly moved around until LarsLuzak folded at the first sign of Ivey's aggression on the flop. The turn was great for Ivey as he made a flush but decided to check and Ziigmund checked after him, oblivious to the trap he was falling into.

With four clubs in his hand and another four clubs on the board, Ivey was looking pretty confident on the river, especially considering that one of the clubs in his hand was an ace. He raised it to just over $100,000 which left him at roughly $50,000. It proved to be the right amount to lure Ziigmund into calling as Ivey gladly swiped away a $315,999 pot.

The two went on to play another pot where Ivey raked another $200k pot. It seems that Ivey's days of losing money online are behind him.

LarsLuzak gets his revenge

We've written many times about Phil Ivey winning big pots over LarsLuzak. Now it was LarsLuzak's turn as he took down$154k from Phil. He's still got a way to go before he gets that $400K back though.

Sitting on Full Tilt Poker table GusHeaven, high stakes professionals Sami “LarsLuzak” Kelopuro and Phil Ivey played some heads-up $500/$1000 No-Limit Hold’em. They ended up playing a little over 20 minutes of action as Kelopuro took down the seven largest hands of the match. In just 41 hands of action, Kelopuro managed to book a solid $154K+ win over Ivey.

The great thing about poker is that we know these two will play again. Phil doesn't like to lose. Watch them play at Full Tilt.

Ivey wins largest pot of 2009 thus far

I'm getting the feeling that this is going to be a crazy year at Full Tilt Poker. Patrik Antonius is up over $2.8 million and January isn't even over yet. Meanwhile, Phil Ivey just won the biggest pot of the year just over $400k.

After some preflop action which made the pot reach over $40,000, players see , and LarsLuzak goes all-in with after Ivey bet $44,000. Ivey quickly calls LarsLuzak's $128,000 all-in with pocket aces and the turn brings an useful card for the Finn - we're talking about . However, the river showed a , which was useful for Ivey this time, as his aces held up. Thanks to them, he won the biggest pot in January and 2009 - $406,814.

As always you can watch these games live with a Full Tilt Poker account.

LarsLuzak returns to Full Tilt, plays Phil Ivey

Sami "LarsLuzak" Kelopuro returned to Full Tilt Poker this week. A popular high stakes online player he has been largely missing from the scene in 2008 after he busted his Full Tilt account and wasn't finding enough quality high stakes game. A lot has changed since then as Full Tilt's RailHeaven has become one of the best plays for pros to get their high stakes action in (and for amateurs to watch it). Right away he sat in with Phil Ivey.

One was when LarsLuzak raised $3k after the whole cards were dealt and Ivey called. After the flop of [Jh 3s Jc] LarsLuzak bet $4k and was was raised by Ivey for an additional $12k which then LarsLuzak re-raised again to $29,600…Phil Ivey then re-re-raised to $47,200 which at this point LarsLuzak folded his cards and Phil Ivey took down the pot worth $65, 199.50.

LarsLuzak went on to take a pot from Ivey before getting into some HUGE pots with David Benyamine. Welcome back LarsLuzak, Phil could always use some more opponents.
