The hot rumor around the message board and websites is that Phil Ivey has $10 million riding on the 2009 World Series of Poker. The bet seems to be contingent on him winning his 6th WSOP bracelet. Phil Ivey is nothing if not competitive and confident in his skills so I can see this being a reality, but is it a smart bet? Yes and no. No, because there is a lot of luck factored into a tournament the size of the World Series of Poker. Yes because he's Phil Ivey. Like I've said before in prop betting I wouldn't bet on Phil Ivey to win a bracelet, but I most definitely wouldn't bet against him. He's just that good.
In other Phil Ivey/WSOP news, someone won .5% of Phil Ivey's winnings in the WSOP main event for just $1.92. Unfortunately someone sent me this link too late as I could have easily gone the full $2.00.
