The World Poker Tour's Festa al Lago got underway at the Bellagio casino yesterday and after Day 1A Phil Ivey is still alive, but Antonio Esfandiari is the current leader. As of right now Phil Ivey sits in 76th place with $34,850 in chips, a long way from Antonio Esfandiari's $313k. Phil Hellmuth brought a friend to the event.
The big news coming out of the Bellagio for today’s Day 1B is the possibility that U.S. Olympic swimmer Michael Phelps may enter the tournament. The winner of eight gold medals during the 2008 Beijing Games was introduced to many members of the field on Day 1A by Hellmuth. WPT officials told Poker News Daily that he stated he would “be back on Tuesday” to play.
Somehow, I don't see that working out well.
